03 / UNIVERSITY TRANSFER

University transfer planning

Before changing direction, understand what is worth carrying forward.

The mismatch may be your subject, the way you learn or your living environment. Start by identifying what needs to change, then weigh a new route against its time and cost.

Who this is for

For current university students considering a different subject, institution or learning environment, including families who want to compare transferring with staying.

When to begin

First check whether a destination accepts applicants at your stage. Compare its application schedule with your current term. Do not leave your institution solely on the basis of an initial plan before admissions, credit and transition conditions are clear.

THE ADVISORY WORK

What we work through together.

01

Compare staying with leaving

Clarify the problem and whether course choices, an internal subject change or a transfer could address it. A plan should show both opportunities and costs, not presume transfer is the answer.

02

Ask credit questions course by course

Prepare a checklist of course titles, hours or credits, syllabi and results. Distinguish a preliminary comparison from an institution’s formal decision; similar titles do not establish transferable credit.

03

Plan the transition, not just the application

Compare entry stage, possible additional study time and costs, alongside materials and deadlines. Record unresolved questions so you can confirm them with the institution before deciding.

YOUR WORKING DOCUMENTS

A plan you can work with.

These are possible deliverables. The exact items, quantities, duration and fees are agreed in writing after reviewing your background.

  1. Stay, change internally or transfer comparison
  2. Transfer eligibility checklist
  3. Course and credit questions for the receiving institution
  4. Application materials and milestone plan
  5. Post-offer questions on credits, duration and costs

Questions worth asking.

Will all my credits transfer?

We cannot promise that. The receiving institution decides credit recognition. We help organise records and questions, with uncertainty kept explicit until a formal decision.

Is transferring always better than staying?

No. Compare academic fit, time to graduation, cost, living arrangements and the options within your current institution. Staying can be the right decision.

Can you confirm my graduation date?

No. An initial plan identifies factors affecting duration; the receiving institution must confirm credit recognition, course availability and graduation requirements.

A FIRST CONVERSATION

Begin with the question you have today.

Tell us your current stage and subject, why you are considering a change and your preferred timing. Do not upload full transcripts or student identification initially; necessary records and suitable sharing arrangements can be discussed later.
